happy mother’s day – to my sweet wife

I spend so much time on the road, that it is easy to take for granted the fact that there is someone running the household in my absence, ‘keeping the homefires burning’ if you will.  Someone who gets the kids to school, soccer, scouts, and oh by the way, runs her own business.  Cleans, cooks, pays the bills,  takes care of sick children…

I wrote this song a couple of years ago, for my beautiful wife of over twenty five years (we’ve been hanging out together for 35!)

Happy Mother’s Day to my sweetheart…

Still My Girl

When I was a child, I spoke like a child

Understood like a child, thought like a child

But now I am a man, and I’ve put childish ways behind me

You were my girl, we were just children

Trying to understand a great big world

Learning to live, learning to love

Learning what God had in store for our lives

Now we have put our childhoods behind

Our children stand in those shoes, and look at us now?

As I look into your eyes, I see you smile

And the years just fade away, because you are

Still my girl, still loving me and taking me into your heart

You are still my girl, and I always will love you

Nothing will keep us apart

You are still my girl

Look at me a traveling salesman and a wandering minstrel

You are my wife, my companion on the journey

My partner for life. A soccer mom, chauffeur, and an entrepreneur

Keeper of the home front

Keeper of schedules, keeper of books

Keeping it all together

As I look into your eyes, I see you smile

And the years just fade away, because you are

Still my girl, still loving me and taking me into your heart

You are still my girl, and I always will love you

Nothing will keep us apart

You are still my girl

Our lives have changed in so many ways,

But the one thing that helps us go on

Is the love of our God, His mercy and grace, salvation in Jesus’,

And the promise that heaven awaits

I can picture our Heavenly Father

On the day that He carries us home

The years will drop away like leaves in the autumn

I can hear my Jesus quietly say…

“As I look into your eyes, I see you smile

And the years just fade away, because you are

Still My child, still loving Me and taking Me into your heart

You are still My child, and I always will love you

Nothing will keep us apart You are still My child”

  1. Danny,

Truly a wonderful tribute to your wife. A perfect example of having a Christ-centered marriage. You certainly are setting a wonderful example of family and will be leaving a great legacy behind! Uncle Lou and I pray that your relationship will bear much fruit with your children, grandchildren and generations to come!
