little church…BIG Faith…

Sometimes I’m inspired, sometimes I’m at rest, sometimes I’m at peace when I leave a Wednesday service.  Tonight I am blessed.  And I’m not sure exactly why, except that in a tiny storefront Church in a suburban Orange County (CA) neighborhood, I met a small group of people who love the Lord with all their hearts.

I visited the Faith Alive Ministries in Stanton, CA for a mid-week service.  I arrived late, as my usual internet search had first led me to another church a few blocks away.  But as the Lord would lead, they had another event going on, and the pastor directed me back toward my hotel to another church that he said would be having a Bible study tonight.

On the way there, I passed that church’s former location and next door,  in an open storefront, praise music was eminating from within, and I was greeted by an usher outside the with a broad grin and strong handshake.  I had to go in.  It reminded me of a small church I played at about twenty-five years ago in Staten Island.

It wasn’t the music, but the fervor of the service in progress that led me in the door where more people greeted me.  Probably no more than about thirty people were in attendance, but this place was alive with the Spirit.  Not much more to say, except the ten minute walk back to my hotel was amazingly peaceful…

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28)

  1. Dan, spending the night in a small country town outside of Tulsa called Catoosa. Went driving around looking for a place to have dinner. Drove past a number of small churches having midweek services. Wanted to stop in but didn’t. Reading your story makes me wonder how much more I could have been fed… Next time. Thanks.

    1. Don’t hesitate to go in. You never know what He has in store for you. There is a great on-line directory at http://www.churchangel.com, where you can locate a church based on state, city, denomination. I often will go to a church simply because it is in walking distance of my hotel. As Was the case last night, and it was a blessing…
